Jasmine is one month old today! It’s hard to believe that one month has already passed. At her one month doctor’s appointment yesterday she weighed 9 lbs 12 ozs, and was 55cm long. Natalie was 9 lbs 11 ozs at one month, so the girls are tracking pretty close so far.

The past few weeks have been quite busy with the arrival of Jasmine and lots of visiting. With Jasmine arriving one day after Natalie’s birthday we had just enough time to get in a birthday party for her. We celebrated Natalie and Amy’s birthday a day early on the 27th with a nice dinner and ice cream cake at home. It was a fun evening and Natalie loved the birthday hats, balloons, and all her presents.

Last Saturday, my brother and his family came over from Victoria for the day to meet Jasmine, and Natalie and Teagan got the chance get know each other better. It was great to see them all and I really enjoyed playing with my nephew.

Lori arrived Sunday the 17th and is giving Christina some extra help around the house now that I’m back at work. We appreciate having the extra help and Christina gets to enjoy adult conversation during day.

Last weekend was another busy one with dinner, brunch, and two birthday parties. The Neufeld and Ribeiro families brought dinner over on Friday night and we had a great evening of good food and visiting. David and Natalie enjoyed playing together and watching The Backyardigans. The two of them played very well together despite Natalie’s numerous attempts to hug him. Saturday morning we had the Hendersons and Boetzkes’ over for brunch. The Hendersons were only down from Williams Lake for the weekend, so we were really glad they could include us in their visit.

On Saturday evening we re-united with the Boetzkes’ at their housewarming/Michael’s birthday where we enjoyed a BBQ where I’m pretty sure the children outnumbered the adults. Sunday afternoon was another child-filled party as we joined our friends Kandy and Shawn in celebrating their daughter Ava’s 1st birthday. Jasmine slept through the entire party while Natalie played with the other children and toys.

We took the family to Playland yesterday for Natalie’s first time on the rides. She had a great time and went on all the rides that she was allowed to. Unfortunately she is still under 36″ tall, so she was limited to just six rides, but there was still a good variety and she was able to go on them multiple times. Her two favourites were the Honey Bee Express Train ride and the Kettle Creek Mine Coaster.

Jasmine is continuing to do well and at her last doctor’s appointment she was back up to her birth weight already. We’re not terribly surprised given the amount she eats. Natalie is still being a wonderful big sister and likes holding her and sitting beside her in the double stroller. I’ll be going back to work on Monday so we’ll finally get back to a normal routine, but I’m sure we’ll all miss me being at home to help out around the house.

Jasmine is six days old today, and so far everything is going smoothly. She is a marathon feeder with her feeds often lasting over an hour long.  A nice side-effect of of the long feeds is that she is also a great sleeper. She is starting to have more awake time too which allow us to see her beautiful eyes. So far it looks like she might have lighter eyes than Natalie, so we’re think either green or blue.  It’s still too early to tell for sure though.

When we brought Jasmine home, we were a little concerned that Natalie was going to be really upset, but other than a day or so of being very clingy she has been great. She is very caring towards Jasmine, and is very helpful too.  She gives her her soother when she cries, strokes her hair, and throws away her dirty diapers.  Natalie is shaping up to be a great older sister.

It was really nice to have both of our families come out to see Jasmine and help out with the chores and caregiving. The last of the family left this week, so we are starting to get a sense of what our new family life is like. It’s hard to believe we’re a family of four now, and that we have two beautiful daughters. I’m still on vacation for another week and it has been great spending time with everyone.
