Redecorating

2008-03-28 18.10.28.jpgWe recently purchased a new TV for our living room and Natalie had a great time playing in the box. While the new flat panel TVs are great for the living room, their boxes make for a pretty skinny cardboard box house. :) The new TV is part of our grand living room redecorating project. We’re also eagerly anticipating the arrival of our new Sideboard upon which the TV will sit.

2008-03-22 12.32.24.jpgLast weekend we spent a nice day at Granville Island and the South Granville area. We took the SkyTrain to the Main Street / Science World station and walked to Granville Island along the newly completed seawall. The seawall is part of the reclaimed land that will soon be the Olympic Village. One of the more interesting features along the walk was a man-made island that included several tall trees. It is a nice touch of nature juxtaposed against the backdrop of the downtown skyline. One of the tree had even attracted a large eagle making it even more striking. 2008-03-28 09.56.08.jpgIt was nice to enjoy the early spring weather with the sunshine and blossoming flowers, especially considering the snow we had yesterday. In South Granville, we took a picture of one blossoming tree as it had unusually large blossoms on it. If any knows what it is, please feel free to let me know in the comments.

The whole family is doing well, and Christina is approaching the 21st week of the pregnancy. She is feeling much better as her nausea subsided around week 16, and her energy levels have increased. She can feel the baby moving constantly and it looks like this one is going to be another dancer like Natalie. Natalie had her first dentist appointment this week and everything looks good. She still only has the two teeth on the bottom front, and the dentist seemed to think she would get her incisors before the other two from the look of her gums. It should make for some interesting smiles.

19 weeks

We had our 19 week ultrasound yesterday and everything looks good. It was really exciting to see the baby moving around in there. We could even see it opening and closing its mouth. Thanks to Keith and Amanda for looking after Natalie while we had our appointment. I can’t imagine trying to keep Natalie still while we waited (it was almost an hour late).

Grandparent week at the Mitchell house

2008-03-09 09.51.50.jpg
It’s been quite a while since we last updated the blog and a lot has happened. In February Christina and Natalie took a trip to Kelowna to visit Christina’s parents. They had a great time despite the snow and Lori’s back injury. While there, they enjoyed a great cooking class at the Mission Hill winery restaurant.

This month we saw Christina’s sister Amy head off to Bali and Thailand for a three week vacation in the sun. We’re obviously jealous, but are really excited for her and enjoy getting her emails and pictures.

2008-02-24 16.14.29.jpgLast week we had a week of visiting Grandparents. Lori came out to visit during the week and my parents visited over the weekend. It was great to visit with all of them and they had a blast with Natalie. We’re really happy that they can come and visit as often as they do.

Natalie is getting to be such a big girl now. Her vocabulary is so large that we’ve lost count of the number words she is using. Her pronounciation often leaves something to be desired, but she gets her point across. :) She is very curious and likes to figure out how things work, especially electronics. We recently bought a map of the world so that we can teach her some geography, and she can already find Canada and Australia fairly consistently. Natalie has become infatuated with watching movies, and constantly wants “Wah a Moo-wee”. Her two favourite movies right now are Mary Poppins and Wizard of Oz (which she refers to as “Toto” because she loves the dog so much). They hold her attention through most of the movie and she even gets up dances (surprise!) and sings along with them (especially Mary Poppins). Some of Natalie’s molars have come in now, bringing her total tooth count to 10. She still only has the two in the front on the bottom.
