Well, this post is way overdue! A lot has happened in the last two months, which is probably why we haven’t gotten around to updating the site.
Back in July we spent a week out in Kelowna at Christina’s parents house. We had a great time relaxing by the lake and testing out their new home theater system. We had the first of several birthday celebrations for Natalie while we were out there, and she got to share it with the other birthday girls, Christina’s sister Amy and her auntie Kerry. Natalie started to walk the majority of the time on this trip.
We celebrated Natalie’s birthday at the beginning of August with a BBQ at our house. There are so many important people in her life that it was hard to keep the list to reasonable size. Our place was overflowing with adults, kids and a lot of pregnant women. :) Everything went wonderfully, and Natalie had a great time. She loves all the attention. Thanks to everyone for the great presents.
The next weekend we went camping at Lightning Lake in Manning Park with Susan, James, and Gillian, and Karen and Mike. It was a Natalie’s first camping trip. It was quite cold at night, but we had a great time. We went hiking around the lake, ate smores, and relaxed around the camp fire. On the last day we drove up a nearby mountain to enjoy the view and trails in the meadows there.
We continued our annual tradition of visiting the PNE — Natalie’s second visit. We watched the Peking Acrobats and the Superdogs. Natalie particularly enjoyed the disco music at the Superdogs. We also ate mini doughnuts, toured the show home, and the farm exhibits, including the petting zoo. Natalie did great with the animals in the petting zoo. She ran from one to the next and enjoyed petting them.
At the end of August we went to visit my parent’s in Comox. It was the first time we’d been back to Comox since November, so there were lots of changes to see. While the weather wasn’t wonderful we still managed to spend a lot of time outside. We went for a walk around the airpark and the Marina in Comox, played at the Goose spit beach, visited my parent’s bookstore, and ate a lot of gelato at both Hot Chocolates and Benino Gelato.
Natalie also ate corn-on-the-cob for the first time. She did a great job, especially considering she only has 4 teeth! Natalie had a great time, and got to spend lots of time with her grandparents.
