May update

Last month we celebrated Christina’s first Mother’s Day. Unfortunately Natalie was sick, but Christina appreciated the extra cuddle-time that came along with it while also being pampered by me. Natalie’s flu quickly became a family affair, and knocked us all out for a good week and a half. We had finally recovered by the May long-weekend and were back to our usual routine.

The following weekend Christina and I got our lovely neighbours to babysit while we went out to the John Legend concert! The concert was amazing and it was great to spend time along together again.

Natalie finished here second set of swimming lessons in May passing her Starfish level again. The next stage, Ducks, doesn’t start until she is 18 months so she’ll likely take Starfish again in the future since she loves swimming so much.

Natalie is also starting to stand for a few seconds without holding on to anything and loves walking while pushing chairs around the house. She has recently begun to venture out onto the patio after mastering the step down.

She has also had us in stitches with her quirky behaviour as of late. She has taken to bouncing her mouth against anything and everything. The usual choices are the couch, the coffee table, the oven door, and our legs. It’s good for a laugh and we think it could be some early indications of teething (although we’re getting used to failed predictions of teething after 10 months of no teeth). She has also acquired a very strong fascination with the dishwasher and will come crawling at top speed anytime you open it.

My parents came out this weekend to for a quick visit and had a great time with Natalie. We spent a lot of time outdoors with a walk to Granville Island along False Creek on Saturday morning and a trip to Second Beach at Stanley Park on Sunday. She had a great visit and loved playing at the beach. It was her first time and she got right into playing with the sand and splashing in the water.

Good to see some new pictures of Natalie… not sure why babies love dishwashers but David has the same fasination. He knows we close it as soon as he walks towards it so yesterday he was walking with a book to pretend he wasn’t headed for the dishwasher… he did it twice before we cought on.
